CAPI emprende fosters employment, sustainability and impact, thanks to entrepreneurship programs through soccer.
"SUSTAINABLE, HIGH-IMPACT SOCCER".
Alejandro Ortega, CAPI Emprende participant leader and program ambassador for Latin America.
Alejandro was born in Venezuela 38 years ago, but has lived in Chile since he was a child, where he has worked as a coach in different sports disciplines. He is a born entrepreneur. When he was 22 years old and already a father, he knocked on the doors of the Municipality of his commune in search of a job. There he began coaching volleyball, while continuing his studies in Physical Education. His great work allowed him, only months later, to start coaching women’s soccer. That was 21 years ago.
Thanks to CAPI Emprende, the participating trainers have been able to organize their projects, meeting the needs of their schools through fundraising activities, among other actions.
His workday lasts 14 hours. He has three jobs, all focused on sports. He is a functional trainer and leads sports, artistic and cultural workshops in municipal schools.
Alejandro sees soccer as a source of work and a tool to teach values more than teaching games. For this reason, he is part of CAPI Emprende, a program supported by Scotiabank, which promotes entrepreneurship and social development through the training of leaders as coaches for change. And the management of high-impact social projects that achieve sustainability from the community strength.
With CAPI Emprende, Alejandro will be able to follow his dream of having a self-sustainable school, acquire skills to take initiatives forward and continue impacting a community that has believed in his work for many years.
